الأربعون النووية
Al-Arbaʿūn al-Nawawiyya
Forty-two hadith al-Nawawī considered foundations on which the religion turns. Accepted across all four schools, short enough to finish, and the standard first hadith text for eight centuries.
The text
Public domain — read it at a library
sunnah.com — all forty-two, Arabic with English
The collection is al-Nawawī’s, who died in 676 AH. This is the same source our hadith numbering was verified against.
In English — ours
Being written. Every lesson carries the Arabic with our own English beside it, and those lessons are what the English book is made of — it appears here once there are enough of them to be worth downloading.
We link rather than mirror. The classical texts are out of copyright, but the modern printed editions of them are not, so we point you at a library that already carries one instead of putting somebody else’s edition on our server. What we do host is our own work.
Lessons
6 of a planned 42 are written. The rest are not, and this list grows as they are.
