Community board

Free and low-cost services near us

A noticeboard, in the ordinary sense — health screenings, training and placement programmes, scholarships, legal clinics and community services that are free or nearly free. Nobody pays to be here and nobody can.

The board is empty

Nothing is listed yet, because a listing here is a small act of vouching and we have not verified anything to vouch for. It fills up once we have checked that a service exists, is genuinely free or low-cost, and is open to the people we would be sending.

The rules of this board

  • No paid placement, ever. Nobody buys a spot. There are no affiliate links and no referral fees, so a listing carries no financial interest of ours.
  • A listing is not an endorsement. We check that a service exists and is what it says it is. We are not vouching for the quality of anyone’s work, and we are not responsible for what happens when you contact them.
  • Free or nearly free, or it is not listed. A commercial offer is a commercial offer however it is dressed. It belongs somewhere else.
  • It stays off the lessons. Nothing from this board appears beside a lesson, in the library, or anywhere in the teaching. The board is a page you choose to visit.
